Tips for MakeUp

Everyone has their own taste in show makeup. Some guards go for a dramatic look, while others go for a cheerful one. Whichever one you choose, make sure you tell your girls how to do it right.

~ Here are some tips on how to get successful uniformity. ~

  • Tell your guard what brand to use, what exact number/color it comes in and anything else that will help them find the correct thing. If you tell them to just buy silver eye shadow, some might buy sheer and others might buy the glittery sparkle kind. Make it clear to them so everyone looks the same.

  • Try and find colors that go well with everyones skin tone. If you can, just ask someone you personally know that is good with makeup, or ask one of the people that works in the cosmetic department. Explain how many different skin tones you are working with, what your wearing, and any other tad bits. This way you won't have to spend tons of money on trying out different eyeshadows and lipsticks.

  • Give your girls a printed list of what is needed along with the price, and where you might find it. This will ease the confusion.

  • If you have problems with your guard smiling, bring the petroleum jelly and some q-tips. Make everyone smear it on their teeth on the day of competition. On regular football games you don't need to, unless your evil..lol. Games are just for fun!

  • Make it clear what your guard's rules are on show makeup. Most don't allow earrings, scrunchis, or nailpolish unless everyone else wears the same thing.

  • Make a guard box as told on silk online!) fill the "makeup department" of it with extra pony tail holders, clips, bobby pins, eyelash glue (if you use it for rhinestones) or clear nail polish, finger nail clippers, hairspray, mirrors, and anything else you can think of. If someone is missing something, they can find it right there. Try and put it in a spot where everyone can find it, like the flag room. (It might be a good idea to put advil in there, and other girl products!)

  • If you want to have fun, get some friends together to pitch in with the price and all of you can make something the whole guard can use, like personalized makeup bags, boxes.. whatever you can think of. Handmade things are always cherished!
